MIAMI CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF LUCY MORILLO, ESQ., AS PRESIDENT

MIAMI – Aug. 29, 2007 --- The Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation (MCHF) has named Lucy Morillo, Esq., as its President. In this capacity, Morillo oversees all operational aspects of the organization and directs the Foundation’s efforts in accomplishing its mission as the fundraising arm of Miami Children's Hospital (MCH). The Foundation provides philanthropic support to the Hospital, raises awareness about its research programs and raises charitable contributions exclusively for MCH.

Morillo’s career in fundraising and estate planning spans nearly 15 years. Prior to joining MCHF, Morillo was Executive Director of the Office of Estate and Gift Planning (OEGP) at the University of Miami (UM), an office she founded. Morillo served as its Executive Director for five years and spearheaded its fiscal year achievement of a $30-plus million goal. Morillo’s responsibilities included developing a strategic marketing plan to support UM’s $1 billion Momentum Campaign, counseling donors on the legal, tax and economic impact of their estate planning process and overseeing the design and publication of all OEGP marketing materials.

"Morillo’s familiarity and understanding of non-profit organizations, specifically in the planned gift giving sector, will surely make a positive addition to the Foundation and Hospital family," says Thomas M. Rozek, President & CEO of MCH. "Her fundraising acumen will definitely help us positively affect the lives of the children in our community by ensuring that we have the funds necessary to continue to provide the best in quality healthcare so no child has to leave the area," said Mr. Rozek.

"I am grateful to Miami Children’s Hospital for this opportunity," said Morillo. "We are looking forward to reaching out to all sectors of our community and beyond to reinforce the message that MCH is the diamond of the south. There are many worthy charitable organizations, but I have always believed that we need to have those that help our children – our precious gems - come first."

A native of Puerto Rico, Morillo earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburg School of Law and her Master’s of Public Administration and Bachelor’s in Administration of Justice from Pennsylvania State University.

An active member of the South Florida community, Morillo is a Trustee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, and Corporate Advisory Board member of the National Society of Hispanic MBAs. Morillo sits on the Board of Directors of the Miami-Dade Planned Giving Council, Leave-A-Legacy and is a member of the Florida Bar.

Lucy lives at home with her own precious gem Nicholas in Pembroke Pines.

Miami Children's Hospital Foundation works together with the Hospital to ensure no child leaves the region to receive state-of-the-art pediatric care. The Foundation’s goal is to get the secret out that MCH is the "diamond of the South" and is the only licensed specialty hospital in South Florida exclusively for children. MCH is the most comprehensive children’s provider in Florida offering more than 40 pediatric specialties and subspecialties, and a medical staff of over 650 and is ranked one of the top Children’s Hospitals in the US; one of the top 10 pediatric ER’s with over 87,000 patient visits annually; the largest pediatric neurology department in the United States; and the highest surgical cardiology survival rate of any pediatric hospital.
